This Too Shall Pass
A great master lay dying. His disciples gathered, begging for one final teaching.
The master whispered, “This too shall pass.”
A young monk frowned. “That’s it? No secret mantra? No hidden transmission?”
The master closed his eyes.
Hours later, the young monk was seized by violent cramps and rushed to the latrine. As he groaned, the master’s voice drifted through the wooden door: “Now do you understand?”
Lesson: Truth must pass through you, not just into you.
